Dr. Jo Pearson is the Head of Oldham Research School and Teamworks School Centred Initial Teacher Training and Teaching School Alliance. She has worked in both primary and secondary settings over her 30 years in teaching but currently works to support beginning and experienced teachers. She is an MA Education lecturer at the University of Huddersfield and Leeds Beckett University and a project deliverer for increasing engagement in evidence based teaching for Manchester Metropolitan University d National College for Teaching and Leadership.
Dr. Pearson has supported 100+ schools in evidenced-based practice for effective development of ETAs cognitive load theory, metacognition &
assessment.

Changing Literacy Practice in English Primary Schools: A Case Study
Implementation planning in primary schools in the UK. Lessons learned, challenges, successes. The session will present case studies from our own school and schools we have supported as a research school to change practice in key areas such as the teaching or reading and writing and developing metacognition.
