Jonathan Sharples

Professorial Research Fellow

Education Endowment Foundation

Professor Sharples is a Professorial Research Fellow at the Education Endowment Foundation, seconded from University College London. Jonathan works with schools and policy makers across the sector to promote evidence-informed practice, and spread knowledge of ‘what works’ in teaching and learning. He writes evidence-based guidance for schools and works with practitioners to scale-up effective practices. He is the lead author of the Education Endowment Foundation's School’s Guide to Implementation..

Jonathan previously worked at The Institute for the Future of the Mind at the University of Oxford, where he was looking at how insights from brain-science research can support teachers’ expertise and professional development. Prior to this he worked as a secondary school science teacher.

Putting Evidence to Work

This interactive session, led by Prof. Jonathan Sharples, will help schools implement evidence-informed approaches in line with their vision for school improvement. Delegates will learn how to use evidence to identify improvement priorities and select new approaches. We will consider how to implement programmes and practices through careful planning and preparation, so they have the best chance of success. Come ready to learn, engage and be challenged!
